Windows 10 Release Date Announced
The wait is over. Microsoft has finally announced when the Windows 10 free upgrade will be available. Following months of speculation, the company has official confirmed that the highly-anticipated new operating system will be available for free download starting July 29, 2015. Customers who currently have Windows 7 or 8.1 will have a full year to enjoy Windows 10 for free. Lisa Su, an AMD chief executive working with Microsoft stated that they are “watching, sort of the impact of that on the back-to-school season,” with the platform’s release. Those waiting for the new system knew that it was intended to launch in summer, however it is nice to get an official date. When Windows 10 is released it will be made available simultaneously in 190 countries as well as 111 languages. For the first year it will be free for users of the previous operating systems Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1. However, the price for new users and for those who continue to use it after the first year has not been released.

How is Windows 10 Improved?

The new Windows operating system will be used across all Microsoft devices. This means that instead of having a separate phone operating system, the program will be used across all devices including desktops, tablets, smartphones and even Xbox. This enables users to manage devices and appliances across their homes and businesses. The new system features Continuum. This allows users with a mouse and keyboard to see the new system in classic desktop mode. When they switch to a tablet, the operating system will be transformed to touchscreen mode. The Start Menu, a much missed element, will also be back. Tiles will also be present; however, they will be integrated into the Start Menu. They can signal the user of important items like new emails and weather information. Microsoft is hoping that this compromise between a Start menu and a tile display will be more user-friendly and encourage more people to use the operating system on tablets and PCs.
